Get to grips with the fascinating world of wine on this 4 week introductory course based in Manchester city centre. Run over 4 consecutive Thursdays nights, the course is designed for people who enjoy wine and want to learn more about it, in a fun, friendly and relaxed setting with no previous wine tasting experience necessary! The perfect Gift for a wine lover.
COURSE DATES AND TIMES:
Manchester City Centre, 7pm - 9pm

- Thursday 12th November - Introduction to Red Wine from around the world
- Thursday 19th November - Introduction to White Wine from around the world
- Thursday 26th November - An introduction to Champagne and Sparkling Wine
The 4 week course cost just £95 in total (nothing to pay on the night and remember we don't sell wine so no sales pitch either!).
At the end of the course you will :

WHAT IF I HAVE TO MISS AN EVENING?
Not a problem. You may either send a substitute, or pick up the missed session on a subsequent course, or obtain a refund voucher valid for any of our MWS courses and tastings.
Week 1 – Introduction to Wine Tasting
This first session will cover the basics: how wine is made and where in the world it comes from, how to taste wine and assess it like a true professional, tasting 6 wines, including grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Primativo, Tempranillio.
Week 2 – Red wines from around the world
Here we’ll explore the huge variety of red wine styles to be found. From light and fruity Pinot Noir to the smooth Valpolicella Ripasso; the elegant Beaujolais Village to the ever popular Argentinian Malbec! As well as trying 6 more fantastic wines, we’ll also talk about tannin and why some wines get better with age, as well as some other useful tips like why/when you should decant wine and what temperature to serve it at.
Week 3 – White wines from around the world
This evening we’ll move on to talk about white wines and taste 6 crisp and dry delicious examples along the way. We’ll talk a bit about the grape varieties and what they taste like as well as the wine regions that they come from, consider their potential for food and wine matching and further hone your wine tasting skills. We'll also cover things like use of oak, find out which is better - cork or screw cap, and bust a few wine myths too.
Week 4 – An Introduction to Champagne and Sparkling Wine
The last evening is all about fizz. We’ll taste 6 different delicious sparkling wines from around the world, including Champagne. We will learn about the different methods used to make them. You can test which you like best by tasting sparkling wine and Champagne side by side.

After lengthy discussions with Manchester City Council licensing team and our venue, under the current tier 3 level in Manchester we can go ahead in our restaurant setting. Although we do not sell alcohol at our events the full menu offering is available to all MWS participants.
In line with current government policy, we can not accept reservations for groups of six or more. All guests will be seated in a socially-distanced manner from other attendees and you will be contacted before the event to provide contact tracing details.
