Iberia - Explore Spain and Portugal
There is more to Spain than Rioja and Sherry!
Ribero del Duero, Rias Baixas and Penedes, amongst others, offer both traditional and modern wine styles with winemakers combining traditional grape varieties like Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Carinena with ‘international’ grape varieties, to produce stunning new wines.
Let's not forget Portugal, again most people think of the very famous fortified wine - Port - but there are a huge amount of interesting native grape varieties too. From lovely, light, crisp Vihno Verde to the dense, dark and rich Touriga Nacional there has been a major upward shift in quality in recent years and the value from some Portuguese reds is hard to beat.
We'll explore the very best examples of these two exciting wine-making countries.
Stunning wines, unique and different.
Great value at £27.50 and includes full tasting notes and a selection of cheese and ham to nibble on!
This tasting takes place in the atmospheric "Front Room" at the Royal Exchange Theatre. We are delighted to offer those booking a 20% off drinks voucher which can be redeemed at The Rivals bar/restaurant.
Why not make a full night of it and enjoy their 2 or 3-course menu offering before or after the wine tasting? We do recommend you book at table as it can get busy with theatre guests too so click here to do that and there is a reservation option at the bottom of the page as well as a sample menu.
Do you know someone who might like this tasting? Like all our events, this is available to book as a gift voucher. Just book a place below, click on the email when you receive your confirmation, request a voucher and we'll do the rest.
Or if you want to buy a gift but let them choose which tasting they want to go to, just buy a Manchester Wine School gift voucher, with no expiry date and lots of different events available each month, they can decide for themselves.
