Welcome and thank you for viewing our web site. Manchester Wine School is an independent wine education company whose aim is to provide wine tasting for everyone. As we are not tied to any wine merchant or retailer we are able to offer impartial advice and taste only wines we believe are good examples of their type.

We teach people about wine by concentrating on the flavours and aromas of the wines. We focus on the taste profile of each wine, explaining the characteristics of the grape variety, the climate, and the winemaking, and show you with maps and photos where they came from and how they are made. We explain why they taste like they do and ask and listen to what you think about the wines. As we do not sell wine - we can show you where to buy the best wines locally and at the best prices. We work closely with local independent wine merchants to bring you the best tasting & most interesting wines they have to offer. Our guests come by themselves, in couples, and in larger groups, everybody is welcome. It is also a great way to meet people with the same interest in tasting & learning about wine.

All our Evening Tastings (7pm - 9pm) include a minimum of 6 wines (12 wines & lunch on our Saturday Courses), a small amount of tasting food, tasting notes on the selected wines, plus a tutored tasting - with Digital projection equipment & DVDs/Maps/Slides. Professional ISO tasting glasses are also provided.

The evenings are, above all, fun & entertaining with a relaxed atmosphere - no previous wine tasting experience is required. The best and most enjoyable way to learn about wine is comparing the tastes of different wines side-by-side.

We also run courses for the Wine and Spirit Education Trust  (WSET) Level 1, 2 and 3 Award Exams - the internationally recognised qualifications for the wine trade, which are also excellent an excellent way of expanding your knowledge in a more formal way.

Manchester Wine School is also delighted to be a partner school with the Bordeaux Wine School (Ecole du Vin), and a Bordeaux Accredited Tutor running dedicated Bordeaux Wine Courses.

The wine school family also run courses in many other locations - including Leeds, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Bimingham, Preston, London, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Sussex and Surrey. We will be adding other locations in the near future.
